TotalEnergies Signs MoU to Develop 120 MW of Solar Capacity in Uganda

The projects are part of TotalEnergies’ global strategy to be among the world’s top five renewables producers by expanding its renewables portfolio from 12 GW in June 2022 to 35 GW by 2025 and 100 GW by 2030. In Uganda, the major plans to deploy 1 GW of clean energy capacity by 2030.

Philippe Groueix, General Manager TotalEnergies EP Uganda said, “TotalEnergies EP Uganda will undertake feasibility studies and develop these Solar PV projects in accordance with today’s signed project agreement and the applicable laws.”

The projects will support energy access, economic growth and environmental sustainability targets set by the government of Uganda under the Nationally Determined Contributions and the National Vision 2040 policies.

In addition to developing the solar PV projects, TotalEnergies is carrying out upstream activities, including the development of the Tilenga project as well as the operation of over 200 service stations in Uganda.
