Sidi Ould Tah
Dr. TAH is a distinguished economic leader with a robust career spanning pivotal roles in government and international financial institutions. Before joining BADEA, he served as Mauritania's Minister of Economy and Finance and Minister of Economic Affairs and Development from 2008 to 2015. He also acted as an Advisor to the President and Prime Minister of Mauritania from 2006 to 2008. His extensive involvement includes chairing the National Statistics Council, serving as the Permanent Secretary of the Presidential Council for Investment, and being a member of the Central Bank of Mauritania’s Board.
Dr. TAH represented Mauritania as Governor at key global institutions, including the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the African Development Bank, and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, among others. He holds a PhD in Economics from Nice-Sophia-Antipolis University and a DEA in Economics from Paris VII University. His executive education includes programs in Investment, Leadership, Asset Management, and Financial Engineering from Harvard Institute for International Development, London Business School, and Swiss Finance Institute.
Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, with working knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese, Dr. TAH has been honored with numerous awards, including the Knight Medal of the National Merit Order of Mauritania, Senegal’s National Order of the Lion, and the Officer of the National Order of Chad. His career is a testament to his leadership and expertise in shaping economic policies and fostering international cooperation.
