Dr. Ali Akbar Dehghan holds a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran and a Master of Science in Hydrocarbon Reservoir Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada.

He currently serves as a Senior Oil Supply Analyst at the OPEC Secretariat, where he specializes in short-term analyses of global liquids supply. His work encompasses evaluating market fundamentals, investment trends, and production outlooks across all oil-producing countries at different levels, providing strategic insights at multiple stages.

Prior to joining OPEC, Dr. Dehghan held the position of Senior R&D Expert at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). In this role, he contributed to upstream development strategies, technology assessment, and innovation-driven decision-making processes. He also served as a Research Associate at the Petroleum University of Technology Research Centre in Tehran, Iran, where he engaged in academic research and industry collaboration.
