SOGECO Celebrates First Year of Operational Execution on GTA Gas Project

Gas. Mauritania. GTA

Managing the GTA project through the Ports of Nouakchott and N’diago in Mauritania, SOGECO has handled more than 100,000 lifting/hoisting operations and 270 calls to transport over 150,000 tons of freight over the past year.

“We have not only been able to provide solutions adapted to the needs of our clients, but also to create jobs for Mauritanians, while guaranteeing their safety. I would like to thank all the partners who have placed their trust in us,” stated SOGECO CEO, Ahmed Abeidna.

SOGECO also trained over 400 employees who were trained to work in areas such as handling, transport, lifting, storage, preservation, stock management and inspection services.

On track to deliver first gas in 2023, the GTA project will produce gas from an ultra-deepwater subsea system and mid-water FPSO vessel, which will then be processed at a nearshore floating liquefied natural gas facility, located on the Mauritania-Senegal maritime border.

The project is operated by oil and gas supermajor bp; deepwater exploration and production company, Kosmos Energy; Senegal’s national oil company Petrosen; and Mauritania’s national oil and mining company, the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures et de Patrimoine Minier.
