Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye Extends Patronage to MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025

The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 Conference & Exhibition will be held under the high patronage of Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal. This event will take place in Dakar at the Centre International de Conférences Abdou Diouf (CICAD), with a pre-conference day on December 8 and the main conference spanning December 9–10, 2025.

The Presidential patronage underscores MSGBC’s strategic relevance to national and regional development, boosting the confidence of investors and strengthening the sign that Senegal is open and committed to attracting capital in the energy, petroleum and mining sectors. It elevates the profile of the event and reassures stakeholders that the energy sector is a national priority.

Over the past two years, President Faye has taken bold steps to modernize Senegal’s energy sector and accelerate development. Under his leadership, significant advancements include entry into the global LNG market via the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim offshore gas project, with international oil companies bp and its first LNG cargo in April 2025. The oil-rich Sangomar offshore field has been successfully producing, with Woodside exporting over 9.1 million barrels in Q2 2025 and targeting 30.5 million barrels for the year. These developments not only enhance Senegal’s energy security but also generate revenue, employment and industrial opportunities.

Beyond the energy sector, President Faye has spearheaded broader economic reforms. In response to mounting fiscal challenges, his administration unveiled a comprehensive economic recovery plan in August 2025, aiming to reduce the budget deficit to 3%, stabilize national debt and mobilizing domestic resources.

Looking ahead, President Faye’s plan aligns with the broader Senegal Vision 2050 framework. This long-term vision aims to transform Senegal into a diversified, resilient and innovation-driven economy by mid-century. Though still evolving under his leadership, the Vision 2050 initiative complements the current recovery plan by providing a roadmap focused on inclusive growth, regional integration and technological modernization.

Sandra Jeque, Events and Project Director for MSGBC, said, “Under President Faye’s esteemed patronage, MSGBC 2025 will not only showcase Senegal’s booming energy sector but will also become a catalyst for regional prosperity, innovation and collaboration across West Africa.”
