SAR Unveils 2025-2027 Digital Transformation Roadmap at Senegal Energy Event

Senegal’s national oil refining company Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR) has unveiled its 2025-2027 digital transformation roadmap, which includes industrial IoT deployment, enhanced cybersecurity and the development of digital twins across the company’s operations.

Speaking during the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference and exhibition Idrissa Cissé, Director of Information Systems, Digital Transformation and Innovation, SAR said the company aims to leverage data capture to assist in predictive maintenance and the development of simulation, optimization and scenario planning. SAR will also deploy data sensors and connectivity capabilities across its operations to capture real-time data from critical assets and processes.

“SAR’s digital transformation is deeply engrained with national strategic priorities, positioning us as a key contributor to Senegal’s technological future,” Cissé stated.

During a presentation hosted by SAR Cissé highlighted early gains by the company, including a new data center, modernized infrastructure and the digitalization of core human resources processes.

In February this year, SAR successfully refined 650,000 barrels of domestic crude oil from the offshore Sangomar field for the first time, marking a major step towards national energy independence. The company and government are currently assessing future phases of the project to potentially increase production beyond 100,000 barrels per day.
