MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference Postponed to 2025

The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference and exhibition – West Africa's leading event dedicated to advancing the energy sectors of Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry – has been rescheduled to 2025. This decision was made in consideration of Senegal’s upcoming parliamentary elections, set to take place in November 2024.

Since its inaugural edition in 2021, the event has emerged as a leading platform for industry leaders, innovators and policymakers across West Africa, and will continue to be pivotal in shaping the region’s energy future while accelerating investment and project development. Backed by strong industry support – including from Senegal’s Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines and national oil company Petrosen; strategic advisory body COS-Petrogaz; and the African Energy Chamber –, the MSGBC conference is driven by a mandate to provide energy security and promote socioeconomic development in the region. The conference showcases high-level panel discussions, keynotes and technical sessions aimed at allowing energy professionals to share best practices and stay informed about the latest trends and innovations.

The MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 conference will take place on the heels of a number of exciting developments in the region’s energy sector. Specifically, Petrosen recently announced that the country’s Yakaar-Teranga gas project is expected to make a Final Investment Decision in 2025, with production starting between 2028 and 2029. Meanwhile, the large-scale Greater Tortue Ahmeyim conventional gas development – straddling the maritime border between Senegal and Mauritania – is expected to produce first gas by the end of Q1 2025.

The conference will also touch on projects coming online later in the decade including Mauritania’s BirAllah gas project and the Bambo-1 exploratory well in The Gambia. Furthermore, Guinea-Bissau’s bauxite mining projects and Guinea-Conakry’s Simandou mining concession are poised to further ignite a wave of investment and prosperity across the region, showcasing the immense potential the MSGBC basin has for local, regional and international industry players.

On the back of these developments, the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference and exhibition will once again unite the energy, mining and finance industries for a series of discussions and deals. The event has served as the platform of choice for over 250 organizations, 50 speakers, 30 countries and nearly 2,000 delegates in its four-year history and will continue to foster collaboration in 2025 and beyond. The conference offers attendees the opportunity to explore lucrative investment opportunities, network with industry leaders and gain insights into potential projects.
