The British Mentor LNG tanker is owned and operated by ship management company Kmarin and chartered by oil and gas supermajor bp. The cargo was loaded at Italian supermajor Eni’s 3.4 million ton per year Coral Sul FLNG – situated in the Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique – at the end of December 2022.

LNG was first shipped from Coral Sul by Eni in November 2022, thus adding Mozambique to the list of LNG-producing countries, with the LNG facility serving as the first-ever deployed in the deep waters off the African continent.

With LNG demand spiking over the past year in the wake of Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, European countries have been seeking to alleviate themselves from dependence on Russian gas.

As such, Croatia has announced plans to increase the capacity of its import terminal from 2.5 billion cubic meters per year to 6.1 billion cubic meters per year, which will include the construction of a new pipeline from the village of Zlobin to the village of Bosiljevo in northeastern Croatia.

The British Mentor LNG tanker is scheduled to leave the Krk LNG terminal on 25 January.
