The pipeline comprises over 12,000 steel pipes and will drive the full exploitation of local gas resources in the Ashanti region for power generation, a development which will in turn ensure energy security, decarbonization and affordability, with up to 1,030MW of power generation projects planned following the completion of the project.

In addition to ensuring energy reliability and reducing power transmission losses in Ghana, the pipeline is expected to drive the country’s socioeconomic development agenda while boosting employment creation.

Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Energy, Ghana and the private sector, the 110 km pipeline forms part of Genser Energy’s 430 km portfolio of energy distribution network which the firm has constructed in the west African country since 2018.

Ghana’s natural reserves are 18.4 times the country’s annual consumption and the pipeline will help the country move towards its target of achieving universal energy access by 2030 from 88.7% in 2023.
